Festival Focus - Sparsholt College

Our last Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival is here! Sparsholt College (26 – 28 August) hosted the last riders hoping to make their way to the Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival Championships.

Paula Sherwood and her eighteen year old Lusitana stallion were on winning form as they claimed the Inter I Silver title at Sparsholt, having already gained their Prix St Georges Silver qualification at Speedgate earlier in August. “Well done Zepelin! I think I need a new tailcoat and hat now,” Paula said on social media.

It was worth making the trip over from the Isle of Wight for Martine Harbour, as she took two titles home with her in the Advanced Medium Silver and Prix St Georges Bronze with her sixteen year old gelding Garfield Van HT Eelshof. This will also be their first Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival Championship, so will be heading to Arena UK in October.

Back for hopefully their second championship title this year are Victoria Homden and Olly, who won the Elementary Bronze at the Petplan Equine Winter Area Festival Championships back in April. Contesting the Elementary Silver Victoria said, “Ollie was a absolute star again! Coming 2nd in the Medium Bronze as well.” Taking to social media to give her thanks to all the people behind Team Ollie too.

Julia Godden and Garties Mr D'Arcy were joint second in the Prelim Silver with 70.63%, Julia saying on social media, “this amazing horse! He takes me to my happy place every time he let's me be his team mate. “ They will now be making their way to the Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival Championships.
