Petplan’s picks!
The Novice Bronze was won by Tracey Collins with her nine-year-old black mare, S D Cookies and Cream with 70%. The pair have been together since 2018, where they also started competing at Novice. Tracey comments on social media, “Never in my dreams did I think we would score 70% in our novice bronze finals let alone win the class! Absolutely gobsmacked.” This will be their second time to Hartpury after previously competing in the Prelim in 2020.
The best score of the day was awarded to Tate Purcell and Jetti Girl with 73.82% in the Novice Silver, they have had a very successful time since they came together in 2019; scoring over 70% predominantly at this level. “She came with the nickname ‘Tinkerbell,’ which is funny, as she’s a giant” says Tate, who stands at 17.3hh, with Tate only being 5ft 3. Backing the “semi-feral” four years ago Tate mentions that she is the perfect temperament and has been a dream.
This pair have been together for seven years but it will be their first time at Hartpury, Sue Penny and Amingo won the Medium Bronze with 68.63%. The sixteen-year-old gelding has competed in various competitions including music Championships and had been working at this level for five years, perfecting their scores ready for the Championships.
