Petplan’s picks!
First time Petplan Equine Area Festival goers Luke Barclay and Charming Duke secured the highest placed Under 21 tickets in both the Prelim and Novice Bronze. Young rider Luke, riding Eilidh Grant’s five year old pony, went into their first show like experts, proud mum Alison spoke about their day, “they both handled their first Petplan Equine Area Festival together really well and are looking forward to the Winters. They gained 6th place in the Novice class and gaining confidence after their first test got placed 2nd in the Prelim class, again being the highest placed under 21.”
Luke will be off to this first championship show after he was given the ride on Duke to gain experience, “he has trained with the Grants at Caskiben Dressage for 6 years now. He is looking forward to doing some Team Quest and hopefully qualifying for the Summer Area Festivals with his loan pony, after already qualifying Duke at Novice level.”
Jade Whitelaw is back to contest another title within the Petplan Equine Area Festival series. Aafter having a very successful time at the Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival Championships at Elementary on Late Night, she brings forward Dauphin III whom she has owned for over nine years. Topping the podium in the Advanced Medium Bronze, she will be making the 14-hour journey to Hartpury for her shot at the title.
It was a double win for Clare Hinchliffe in the Prix St Georges Silver and Intermediate I Bronze on Cascento. Known at home as ‘Crunchie’ Claire has worked together with her winning ride progressing up the levels with trainer Samantha Browns support. Commenting on social media Samantha said, “I am so very proud! I have worked with them since they were working at Prelim level and what a journey it has been now training at Grand Prix! Many regional titles and Home Internationals under their belt but that is down to Clares hard work and determination, she really is a testament to their success. Hard work, early mornings riding in a field all year around as she doesn’t have an arena unless she visits for a lesson.”
