Petplan’s picks!
Cat Dalton is on her way to the Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival Championships with two qualifications on her two horses Raise The Roof II and Derrentigue Bruce. Having already gained their ticket at Alniwick in the Elementary Freestyle Silver they add the straight to their record coming second with 67.94%.
Talking on social media about her day Cat says, “main man Bruce, after not the best prep week and going in with zero expectations, pulled it off to come 2nd and qualify. Special shout out to this absolute dude who has qualified for the LeMieux National Championships too, completing all four of his summer campaigns!”
Going on to say,” huge thankyou to absolutely everyone who enables me to follow my dreams and play ponies and to everyone who has helped me along the way- will always be eternally grateful.” Known at home as Lottie, Raise The Roof II claimed second place the Elementary Freestyle Silver Cat talked about their journey so far, “this will be her very first ever championships qualification. Her glow up since the Winter Regionals is incredible, with so much more to come. Thrilled is an absolute understatement!”
“Wow what a crazy week it's been!” expressed Leeanne Cameron who won the last Medium Bronze place with her thirteen year old mare Partridgehill Cariad. The pair had already competed at the Sheepagte U25 Championships earlier in the week before heading to Port Royal, “Cariad was so relaxed and at ease with everything. We did a lovely test however we didn't get our best score at Sheepgate however back home for Thursdays trip to Port Royal and we won! Such a fabulous little horse.”
Young rider Mia Offley and Timmy III will be heading to her second championships of the year after attending the Petplan Equine Winter Area Festival Championships in April, this time taking her place in the Prelim Freestyle Silver. Her mum Sarah said on social media, “amazing day! Smashed it in Prelim Freestyle so we’ll be making a trip to Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival Championships. Timmy was his adorable self as usual.”
Verity Franks was on fire at Port Royal adding five qualifications to her record between two of her home bred horses, “super pleased with the kids over the last 2 days!” Verity said on social media.
Classical Challenger a sixteen year old gelding by Thornwick Challenger stole the show with three tickets to the Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival Championships in the Prix St Georges Silver and Freestyle as well as the Inter I Bronze. “We made a slight mistake in the Inter I Freestyle Bronze by missing out our two temi’s, I blame the 4am start! So we just missed out on the percentage scores for that one,” said Verity. Daiquiris Jiggery Pokery, known as Piglet is also making her way to the championships in the Medium Freestyle Silver and the Advanced Medium Freestyle Silver, “she was very keen in the music, just short of 70%!”
Lauren Crowe is over the moon to be heading to Arena UK with her sixteen year old gelding Scout, “Smudgey you are my absolute hero,” Lauren said on social media. “I could not adore this horse anymore and he just continues to make my dreams come true! We rode our Elementary Freestyle Bronze for only the fourth time today and he absolutely smashed it to win with a whopping 71.09%. One judge having us on over 74%!” Lauren continued. Regulars at Area Festivals it was a nice atmosphere to be a part of says Lauren, “could not be more proud of him and was so lovely to have the family there to support us.”
They came back the next day to add another ticket to the championships in the Elementary Bronze, “absolutely over the moon with him this weekend he is an absolute legend,” Lauren said.
