Festival Focus - Onley Grounds

With only a handful of Petplan Equine Area Festivals left to go riders made their way to Onley Grounds (19 – 21 August) to gain their qualifications for Arena UK.

Young rider Emma Chinn is back to contest another title at the Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival Championships after her win last year in the Elementary Freestyle Silver with Bally Blackjack. The pair gained their qualification in the Medium Bronze, “He’s very chilled," Emma said about ex-Eventer Snip who came to the family just over three years ago, "he'd always done a good dressage test, so that's how I ended up with him! He’s quite easy to look after, go out in the mornings, come in and have some lunch.”

Elementary Silver winners Susan Sabin and Kingsfishers Inferno only became a partnership six months ago, after buying the gelding from Richard Burge. Susan took to social media to express her joy, “what a weekend. A win today in the Elementary Silver and third yesterday in the Novice Silver section out of 45 competitors.” The pair had a long wait as they were early on in the class but were over the moon to win. At just six years old this will be the geldings first championships since his young horse class days.

Just starting their Petplan Equine Area Festival journey are Amy Thomas and Rocky XXVI, after competing very successful in Saracen Horse Feeds Quest over the last two years and earning a top ten placing at the championships last year they are now heading to the Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival Championships in the Prelim Bronze.

Hannah Reilly and her part-bred Arab Whalton Extravaganza came second in the Prelim Silver. The ten year old gelding already has the Cavago Associated Championships Prelim Bronze title under his belt and a top ten placing at last years Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival Championships, so the pair are back to try and gain another title.
