Festival Focus - Alnwick Ford Equestrian

The second of the two Petplan Equine Area Festival on the first weekend of August, North and East venue Alnwick Ford (5 – 8 August) gave more riders their golden tickets to Arena UK.

Derrentigue Bruce certainly known it’s time to shine when getting on the lorry for stay away shows Cat Dalton his owner tell us, “we thoroughly enjoyed our road trip and overnight stay at Alnwick Ford for the Petplan Equine Area Festivals. Bruce loves stay away shows and all the attention he gets!”

It’s been a busy season for the pair as well as qualifying for the Petplan Equine Summer Area Festivl Championships in Elementary Freestyle Silver, ‘The Bruce’ is also heading to the LeMieux National Championships at Prelim and Novice, “I have had a fantastic summer season!” Cat told us.

“This has been our first season at Elementary so we were absolutely over the moon to take the win. Both of us really enjoy riding to our music, so that was the icing on the cake for us,” Cat said about their day. They have also competed at the NAF Five Star Winter Championships earlier on in the year but it will be their first time at Arena UK, “I’m really excited! We have another set off qualifying scores, so will compete at Port Royal in Elementary Silver at the end of August with the hopes of another golden ticket!”

Petplan Equine Area Festival first timers, Grace Smith and Mochaccino smashed their first season winning the Prelim Freestyle Bronze, Mum Kathy told us about their journey so far, “Grace is only twelve and this is their first season after doing Quest for a couple of years. We have loved it so far and we are super excited.” First getting their dancing shoes when Grace was eight years old at The Riding Club, she has kept her passion and is now dancing to the Lion King.

It was a triple win for Fiona Stryjewski and Devon B, the fourteen year old gelding topped the podium in the Prix St Georges Silver and Freestyle as well as the Inter I Freestyle Bronze. The pair have been together for seven years and have made their way up from Novice. They have attended quite a few championships along the way but got their first title win last year at the Petplan Equine Summer Area Festival Championships in Prix St Georges Freestyle Bronze.

Talking about their winning weekend on social media Fiona said, “he tired so hard all weekend and I am delighted to get three qualifying scores.”
