Parliament yesterday approved the legislation for the second lockdown for England for a four week period, effective from today, Thursday 5 November, until Wednesday 2 December inclusive. While the overall message is once again to stay at home where possible, in order to minimise contact with others and limit non-essential travel, there are some exceptions around work, training and exercise.

Britain’s youth riders showed great potential at the first-time running of the BD U21 National Championships held last week at Vale View Equestrian in Leicestershire (30 – 31 October 2020). The two-day competition, supported by the British Dressage Supporters Club (BDSC) and held alongside Vale View High Profile Show, boasted a wealth of youth talent as our national champions were crowned.

The Prime Minister has announced another national lockdown in England, effective from Thursday 5 November until Wednesday 2 December inclusive. During this four-week lockdown, people are required to stay at home except for work, if it cannot be done from home, education, exercise and recreation, medical reasons, to care for another or essential shopping.

The national governments for England and Scotland have this week announced a number of changes to how they are managing coronavirus restrictions at local level. For England this means that the risk status has been upgraded in several areas, while Scotland has also had a new tiered system to manage restrictions introduced.

Dressage legend Valegro had a special trip out today to meet…himself! The triple Olympic medallist made the short journey to the International Centre for Birds of Prey in Newent to be the guest of honour at the COVID-secure unveiling of his statue which will take pride of place in the town centre in due course.

Vale View High Profile Show and the inaugural U21 National Championships take place this week at Vale View Equestrian in Leicestershire (29 - 31 October).

With restrictions on spectator events continuing we are unable to host an in-person attended Convention this year, but we’re delighted to confirm that the two day training forum will still go ahead over the weekend of 21 – 22 November – and, for the first time ever, you can enjoy it from the comfort of home as it’ll be broadcast online on a pay per view basis via Horse and Country.

The BEF Board has introduced a 14 day moratorium, during which time any horse that returns a positive result for Zilpaterol through testing at an event will not be subject to any regulatory action under the BEF’s anti-doping rules (known as BEFAR).
