The 2021 Winter Regional Championships continued last week at Prestige Equestrian in Gloucestershire (27 – 29 May), an event that enjoyed a high class entry of riders competing for a place at the NAF Five Star Winter Championships at Hartpury later this month.

Charlotte Fry, Emile Faurie and Louise Bell secured a podium place for Great Britain in the second leg of the FEI Dressage Nations Cup™ 2021 series, held at the Stade Equestre du Grand Parc in Compiègne, France (27 – 30 May 2021).

Hot weather (at last!) and hot competition were the hallmarks at Merrist Wood Winter Regionals (29 May – 3 June). Scores soared to a sizzling 80% for rising stars Georgie Nicholls and Headmore Figaro, with boss Alice Oppenheimer not far behind on 79.44% in the Nupafeed Advanced Medium Freestyle Gold. Alice also achieved a long-held ambition of winning her 50th regional title.

Not one. Not two. But six winning sashes headed home with Tahley Reeve-Smith as she scooped up both Novice Gold titles, PDS Saddles Elementary Freestyle Gold, both Medium Gold titles and the Nupafeed Advanced Medium Freestyle Gold title at Codham Park Equestrian, Essex (21 – 23 May 2021).

Dressage’s relocation to the ‘other side’ of the Hickstead site received a unanimous thumbs up from the riders at the first Premier League under the new regime. Despite horrendous weather conditions, the prestigious event at Hickstead, West Sussex (21 - 23 May) was well-organised with a great atmosphere.

This year’s seven-fixture Premier Leagues series reaches it midway point this week at the Cheshire venue of Somerford Park in Cheshire, which features 32 classes full of quality across three days (28 – 30 May 2021).

Martin Schleicher and Ruby Hughes were both on form last week, winning three regional titles apiece at Vale View Winter Regional Championships, Leicestershire (20 – 23 May 2021).

Friendly rivalry for top placings between Darcas Lever and Sarah Higgins resulted in two wins for Sarah and one for Darcas at Myerscough Winter Regionals (18 - 22 May 2021).

The following riders have been selected to represent Great Britain this week at Compiègne CDIO5*/CDI3*/CDI2*/CDIY in France (27 – 30 May 2021).

Jennifer Johnston-Harman took five regional titles while Claire Moore, Becky Moody, Nicky Heale and Jade Struthers were double winners at the Scottish winter regional (13 – 14 May 2021).
