British Dressage is delighted to announce the venues that have been allocated to host Petplan Equine Winter and Summer Area Festivals in the next three-year cycle, from 2024 to 2026.
Process and selection
All approved BD venues were invited to apply to host an Area Festival and the BD Fixtures Panel, a sub-group of the Sport Operations Committee, reviewed each individual application in detail. Over 40 applications were received from venues around the UK for the next three-year cycle, reflecting the ongoing interest, commitment, and investment that our organisers continue to make into the sport.
To be allocated one of our major events, organisers must meet the minimum criteria to ensure their venue has the required facilities to host large numbers of competitors, whilst providing good quality provision for judges and officials. The BD Fixtures Panel thoroughly discussed each application considering a number of key factors:
- Venue facilities, surfaces, stabling provision, and accessibility.
- Geographical location and spread across the country.
- Current competing member locations, using Maptive software to define hotspots.
- Venue performance in organisation, customer care, and compliance with current organiser protocols.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank those venues that have supported the Area Festivals over many years. A significant amount of work goes into making these events a special occasion for BD members, and we appreciate their commitment to providing the best possible competitor experience, as well as their ongoing contribution to British Dressage.
There are plenty of familiar venues returning to the Area Festival fixtures calendar, alongside new venues joining the BD major dates list for the first time. Congratulations to those selected, we look forward to working with all venues to continue the success of the Area Festivals over the next three-year cycle.
