Amidst the doom and gloom of lockdown and ongoing restrictions, we’re happy to be able to bring members more positive news of some key regional shows, which have now been rescheduled for December in the Wales, Eastern and Northern regions.

The second national lockdown in England and Wales unfortunately meant that we couldn’t bring the Quest Regional Championships to the exciting climax we’d hoped for, with two of the finals in Wales and the Eastern region having to be postponed from their original dates. However, those members affected can all start planning again, as we now have new dates for those who had qualified for the championships at Beacons Equestrian in Carmarthenshire and Keysoe in Bedfordshire.

The Welsh Quest Regional Championship at Beacons Equestrian Centre will now be split into two shows on consecutive weekends, so we can safely run the event within the numbers permitted and with all COVID protocols in place. The dates are as follows:

Sunday 13 December – U21s Team Quest and My Quest
Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 December – Open Team Quest and My Quest

The Eastern Quest Regional Championship at Keysoe will be over the weekend of 19 & 20 December for all Team Quest and My Quest competition. The schedule is now live on the system and entries are open until 10 December.

For both fixtures, all entries from the previous dates will be transferred over. If you are unable to make the rescheduled dates, please get in touch directly with your venue and refunds will be issued. Priority will be given to riders who booked initially and extra entries will only be taken if capacity permits. Our Quest Co-ordinator, Stephanie Verge, will contact eligible Club members at the end of this month to confirm if spaces become available.

Meanwhile, members in the Northern region who were disappointed when lockdown was announced at the start of this month will be pleased to hear that the annual celebration that is the Northern Show, hosted by Northallerton EC, also now has a new date and will run from 11-14 December.

This bumper show, with classes for all from Prelim to Grand Prix, plus youth, para and freestyle, promises to be a great way to end the season for our Northern members. The schedule is now live once again for you to plan your competition over the four days.

Good luck to all of those members who are bound for Beacons, Keysoe and Northallerton next month – we’re delighted to get these fixtures back in the calendar for you.

Camp Update: For riders in the South West Region who were aiming for the Senior Performance Camp at the Unicorn Trust in Stow on the Wold on 28 & 29 November, a new date has been secured in early 2021, on the weekend of 23 & 24 January. There are still places available for what promises to be a great weekend of learning with Maria Eilberg and Damian Hallam to kick start your New Year.

Plus, a new date has been found for one of the region’s popular sessions, ‘A morning with Laura Tomilinson’, which was originally scheduled for 19 November. This will now take place on Thursday 21 January at the multi-medallist’s beautiful Gloucestershire base, so book a place now – it would make a great Christmas present for someone!
