British Dressage Training and Education is proud to present the first major training fixture of 2022, with the Principles of Judging Seminar returning for the first time since 2019.

Northamptonshire venue Moulton College opens its doors to this popular event on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March, with judges, coaches, riders and fans presented the opportunity to gain valuable insight through the eyes of three top judges, Isobel Wessels, Clive Halsall and Judy Harvey.

Leading lady Isobel Wessels is one of only four FEI 5* judges in Britain. As part of this prestigious role she’s judged at the World Young Horse Championships, Senior European Championships, multiple European Championships for U21s riders and World Cup qualifiers. Away from her judging duties, Isobel has competed successfully to Grand Prix and also passes on her knowledge as a much sought after coach.

Fellow FEI 5* judge Clive Halsall has been part of panels worldwide at many a high profile international event, including the FEI Senior European Championships held in Rotterdam in August 2019. For Lancashire based Clive, a busy judging schedule is balanced alongside coaching commitments, including his position as Coach Advisor to the U21 performance pathway.

BD International Director and List One judge Judy Harvey completes the line up at the Principles of Judging Seminar bringing her vast expertise, as a judge, rider, coach and selector. From selecting medal winning combinations to fly the flag for Great Britain, to setting the standards in domestic judging and through her role on the British Dressage board, Judy’s voice is a highly valued addition this year.

With live arena demonstrations and class room sessions, expect an interactive, immersive weekend of education led by three progressive judging talents. Covering Prelim to FEI Prix St Georges, sessions will delve into discussion around quality of paces, lateral work, scales of marking, test riding and more with plenty of opportunity to participate, ask questions and voice your opinion. The full timetable will be released in the coming weeks, keep up to date with event news on the British Dressage website for session details and demo combinations.
