The BD High Profile season gets underway this weekend as Vale View Equestrian in Leicestershire hosts the opening fixture of 2025, sponsored by Kevin Sparrow Photography (24 – 26 January).
With a stellar line-up, including a mix of elite Grand Prix riders, promising young horses, and future stars in the youth classes, Vale View’s 2025 High Profile Show is set to deliver a thrilling season opener.
Amongst those to watch are Andrew Gould and his 11-year-old stallion Active Solaris (Sezuan x Fidermark) who will be competing in Friday’s and Saturday’s Intermediate I classes. They’ll be joined by Tom Goode who will ride Caroline Rake’s up-and-coming mare Margot (Morricone x Totilas). Tom will return for the Grand Prix on Saturday with Richard Jackson’s 10-year-old stallion Furstenrausch PS (Fürstenball x Festrausch), with whom he took the runner-up position last year at the Vale View High Profile. Another combination to keep an eye on among the 19-strong Grand Prix field is Olympian Fiona Bigwood and her own Daytona Platinum (Dante Weltino x Charon).
The youth classes will run across the weekend, showcasing future stars at the start of their season. Ruby Hughes and Claire Wyatt’s eight-year-old Fire Kracka (Fidertanz x Diamond Hit) will hope to replicate their success at December’s Arena UK’s High Profile, where they took two victories in the Junior Individual and Team tests. Whilst team regular Jessica McConkey (22) brings forward her new ride San Mateo (San Amour x Donnerhall) for their Grand Prix U25 debut as a combination, having made their competitive debut in just December last year.
The three-day show concludes on Sunday, where a strong cohort of riders will take to the arena in the afternoon for the Para classes, for the very first Para High Profile fixture.
