The first competitor down the centre line this morning at Lancashire’s Myerscough College International Arena got the 2020 Premier League underway! The first of eight Premier League fixtures, Myerscough runs until Sunday 8 March with dressage action from Medium to Grand Prix. There are some great names among the strong entry alongside some of our rising stars and talented under 21 riders.
The Premier Leagues are a great way for riders to gain direct qualification for September’s LeMieux National Championships in the Equine Construction Advanced Medium, Fairfax Saddles Prix St Georges, Saracen Horse Feeds Inter I, Haygain Inter II and LeMieux Grand Prix classes. Plus, it’s the first chance for our young equine talent to qualify for a new championship, the seven year old Advanced Medium – this class is certainly one to watch with an eye on Paris 2024!
Myerscough is the first of twenty qualification rounds for the sport’s largest equine star spotting series, the Shearwater BD Young Horse Championships with classes for four, five and six year olds.
Dressage fans will be delighted to see names like Carl Hester, Matt Frost, Ryan Todd, Becky & Hannah Moody, Rebecca Hughes, Anna Ross, Steph Croxford and Emile Faurie among the extensive entries – plus many more. Carl Hester will be partnering his own, Lady Anne Evans and Ann Cory’s Hawtins Delicato (pictured above) on Sunday in a first Grand Prix outing since Olympia last year, kicking off his Tokyo selection campaign.
Don’t miss Saturday’s Gala Night (March 7) with Freestyle action at Prix St Georges, Inter I and Grand Prix levels. Tickets are just £5 per person – the seats have heating which has been very welcome this winter! To book, please call 01995 642115.
Throughout the show the amazing café will be open as well as the on-site tack shop, which just happens to be running a clearance sale so make sure you pack your flexible friend! Daytime action is free to view, just pitch up, grab a coffee from the café, find your spot in the stands and enjoy!
The action is live on Horse & Country TV with a subscription at just £5.99 per month. The Gala Night will be recorded and shown on demand at a later date.
