Louise Bell and Into the Blue continued their maiden FEI Dressage World Cup™ series with a top-ten place at Neumünster CDI-W in Germany (13 – 16 February 2020).

Great Britain’s sole representative at this, the ninth leg of the FEI World Cup™ Western European League, didn’t have the easiest of rides in Saturday’s Grand Prix. Fourteen-year-old Into the Blue was distracted and spooky which had an impact on fluency and harmony, but his energetic, high quality piaffe and passage helped restore their score for 68.17%, twelfth place and a ticket to the freestyle.

In front of the knowledgeable Holstenhallen Neumünster crowd on Sunday, Louise and the Ublesco x Calvaro Z gelding, who she co-owns with Tonya Wood, performed their popular and tried-and-tested freestyle set to Sweet Home Alabama, The Greatest Showman and Despacito. The programme’s extensive piaffe-passage tour shows the blue roan gelding’s great ability to collect and they were justly awarded with a score of 75.55%.

“OMG top ten placing here at the VR Classics World Cup dressage Neumünster, Germany!” said Louise on Louise Bell Dressage Facebook. “[He was] Still spooking but we pulled a great score off and loved every moment here! I’m super proud of ‘Dynamo’ just managing to contain his enthusiasm! Happy horse, happy rider!"

In front of her home crowd, Germany’s Jessica Von Bredow-Werndl celebrated her birthday with a personal best of 89.64% in the Grand Prix Freestyle aboard 13-year-old Trakehner mare TSF Dalera BB, beating defending World Cup Champion and compatriot Isabell Werth and Emilio 107 (78.13%).
