Lottie Fry and her Tokyo 2020 partner, Everdale, were on top form at Amsterdam CDI-W with a resounding win in both the Grand Prix and Freestyle up against a high calibre field at this eighth leg of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2023/2024 Western European League (25 – 28 January 2024).
Taking the top spot in the Grand Prix ahead of Germany’s Isabell Werth (DSP Quantaz) and Sweden’s Patrik Kittel (Touchdown), the podium remained unchanged for the Freestyle, with the British duo achieving a combination PB of 88.180%. Riding to music produced by Tom Hunt, featuring songs by Pink, amongst the many highlights were bold, supple lines of changes, with four tens awarded for choreography, and tens across the board for music and interpretation.
“I’m still taking it in I guess, to win here in Amsterdam is kind of a dream – especially with such a competitive field of horses and riders!” commented Lottie at the press conference. “Everdale has been feeling so good the last two days and I’ve had two really great rides so I couldn’t really ask for more!”
By adding victory in Amsterdam to their win at Mechelen’s World Cup qualifier in December, and second place at London CDI-W, Lottie and Van Olst Horses' Everdale (Lord Leatherdale x Negro) moved comfortably into third place on the Western European League table from which the top nine will qualify for the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final in April, which this year takes place in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh.
