Liverpool dressage action tonight!

The doors have just opened for this year’s Theraplate UK Liverpool International Horse Show – equestrianism’s best way to ring in the New Year, 28 – 31 December. Following an afternoon of u25s show jumping, dressage takes centre stage in the evening performance at 9:25 with the Equitop Inter I Freestyle Invitational.

Double Olympic champion Charlotte Dujardin finished in runners up spot last year in the iconic Echo Arena and will be hoping to go one better this time with the eye-catching Florentina VI whom she jointly owns with the Dockleys. The grey mare has had a memorable season, making her international debut at small tour where she remains unbeaten and is the National champion at both PSG and Inter I levels having won the Fairfax Saddles and Saracen Horse Feeds titles respectively. 

While Charlotte and ‘Flora’ will start favourites, Sophie Wells will be hot on their heels with her double World Championship para gold medallist C Fatal Attraction, owned by Charlotte Hogg. This duo have also had an incredible season and are unbeaten in Grade V competition this year, crowned by the two gold medals in Tryon.

Sarah Higgins and Sarah Rao’s Waldassarini finished third here last year so will again be hoping for a podium place but the remaining six combinations in the field all have form at this level. Tonight’s competition is set to be a corker!
