With confirmation of attendance due by 30 September, we are honoured to share the news of the memorial service for the late Linda Whetstone, to celebrate her life and reflect on the incredible legacy she leaves behind.
After the sudden and sad passing of our Chair, Linda Whetstone, at the end of last year, we were overwhelmed by the response from our members, who wanted to express their condolences and share their fond memories. It was clear that Linda was held in the highest regard, commanding such love and respect from the dressage community for the immense contribution she made to our sport.
Due to the pandemic, it was not possible to accommodate everyone at Linda’s funeral in January, but the Whetstone Family have very kindly arranged a memorial service on Tuesday 18 October at 12 noon, hosted at St Marylebone Parish Church, 17 Marylebone Road, London, NW1 5LT. Following the service those in attendance are welcome to join the family for a reception at the Royal Institute of British Architects, 66 Portland Place, London, W1B 1AD.
Whilst numbers are unlimited and the invite is extended to all of Linda’s friends and former colleagues, the Whetstone family request that anyone who is planning to join the service confirms their attendance by email at: memorial4linda@gmail.com, by 30 September at the latest. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live streamed, with further details to follow in due course.
We paid tribute to Linda at our Winter Championships in April, and recently recognised FEI 5* judge and stalwart of British Dressage Stephen Clark as the inaugural recipient of Linda Whetstone Memorial Trophy, for an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to dressage, the occasion was celebrated at the LeMieux National Championships.
