Three class wins for youth superstar Sofia Games as she joined the British contingent travelling to Le Mans CDI in France which saw some promising results and valuable experience gained in a competitive international environment (8 - 11 November 2024).

Junior rider Sofia Games (pictured above) had a stellar weekend bringing home three wins at Junior level, with 12-year-old Dutch-bred Honey D'Or (Chippendale x Sandro Hit). Putting their best foot forward, the pair placed first in the Team test on 69.899% and in the Individual test on 68.236% (GBR). Concluding their incredibly successful show, the combination claimed the win in Monday’s Freestyle contest with a standout score of 74.317%. Having recently aged out of ponies, this latest string of top placings indicates Sofia has a promising career ahead of her as she moves up to the Junior level.

The last month has been one of firsts and lasts for fellow youth rider, 15-year-old Lily Cawley and Cognac IX (FS Chambertin x Waldermar). The pair claimed the win for their Team test at their first high-profile competition at Aintree just over three weeks ago and have now competed in their first overseas international competition. Having secured a place in the top ten in the Pony Team test with 61.857%, Lily and Cognac IX quickly climbed up the placings to come in fourth on a score of 66.622% in the Individual test, which put them less than 0.05% behind Jolien Duijts and Den Ostrik's Macho (NED) in third place. A score of 68.309% for their freestyle concluded the show for them as well as their time competing together after Lilly announced on Instagram it would be their last centre line together.

Ellie Mccarthy and Brave Heart (Bordeaux x Tuschinski) had a tricky start to this international competition, placing fifteenth on a score of 63.913 %. Posting on Facebook Ellie said, “Unfortunately it wasn’t our day today. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t really disappointed, as Massimo has been going very well lately and we’ve improved a lot since our last show. We have the freestyle tomorrow, so we’ll try to iron out the mistakes we made today.” Sunday’s Freestyle showed improvement, and the pair secured ninth place on 69.000%. Ellie previously claimed a personal best and her first senior international win at Wellington CDI in October and there’s no doubt the duo will have walked away from this latest competition with a lot of experience gained on an international stage.

Having recently moved up to small tour out of young riders, Hermione Tottman and Exquisite (Lord Loxley X Wabiola L) had a successful show, securing several top three placings. The pair came third place in the Prix St Georges before going on to claim two second places with a score of 68.147% for their Intermediate I test and a score of 70.485% for their Freestyle.
