Emma Hindle and Romy Del Sol posted top results amongst strong company at Wiesbaden CDI4* in Germany (7 – 10 June 2019).

Sunday’s Grand Prix for Special featured a high-powered field, with Katrina Wüst (GER), Peter Hansaghy (HUN), Isobel Wessels (GBR), Oliver Smeets (BEL) and Henning Lehrmann (GER) in the judges’ seats. The class was ultimately won by German maestro Isabell Werth and DSP Quantaz, with Matthias Alexander Rath and Foundation and Dorothee Schneider with Pathetique making a German one-two-three. A cracking score of 71.06% however placed Emma and her Blue Hors Romanov x Danny De Vito mare (pictured last year) within tantalisingly close reach of the home nation’s leading trio.

In 2018, Emma made a plan to go ‘on tour’, taking Romy Del Sol out into the world and exposing her to new environments. It’s a plan that’s certainly paying off. The horse is more secure in her work, Emma can ride for the higher marks, and their trademark harmony is being recognised and rewarded by the judges.

The CDI, which takes place in front of the magnificent baroque backdrop of the Biebrich Palace, continued into Monday. In yesterday’s Grand Prix Special, Emma went one better to take third behind Werth and Schneider on a solid mark of 71.53%. Her compatriot Laura Tomlinson with her own and Wilfried Bechtolsheimer’s fabulous Rhodium x San Remo stallion, Duval’s Capri Sonne Jr, also climbed the ranks. Some mistakes in the Grand Prix kept their score in check for seventh but a super Grand Prix Special for 70.63% earned fourth for this exciting combination.

The Grand Prix for Freestyle and Grand Prix Freestyle were won by Germany’s Ingrid Klimke with the 11 year old Hanoverian stallion, Franziskus (Fidertanz x Alabaster) on scores of 74.26% and 80.68% respectively.
