Get ready for the FEI European Championships for Juniors and Young Riders

The FEI European Championships are taking place this week (25 – 31 July 2022) on home turf at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire, with the British Juniors and Young Riders taking centre stage.

Hartpury College is set to welcome the world's top young athletes with 22 Nations coming together over six days of team and individual competition in a bid for European Championship glory. 

The competition gets started on Tuesday with part one of the Team medal competition getting the show under way at 09:30 for both Junior and Young Riders, with two main arenas primed to perfection set alongside one another under the iconic Hartpury hill. Team competition continues into Wednesday with the competition closing at 14:00 and the medal ceremony shortly after.

The British Junior team flying the flag is made up of 2021 FEI Junior Silver European Champion Annabella Pidgley with her new ride Espe, European debutant riders Myles Graham with Caroline Bell’s Nibeley Union Hit, India Durman-Mills with the wonderful Escade and Sophie Wallace with Laura Tomlinson and Ursula Bechtolsheimer’s mare Rosalie B.

Taking up the gauntlet in the Young Rider competition are Le Mans Nations Cup class winners Anna Dalrymple with Maxine Vainio’s Vagabond de Massa are joined by Jessica McConkey and her own Lady Gaga, as well as Caitlin Burgess  with her own bay gelding Chocotof and Maddy Frewin with Hannah Hannah Dovey's thirteen year old Eagle Nouvelle.

The Individual competition begins on Thursday at 13:30, running throughout the afternoon until 18:00. With the conclusion of the Individual tests to come on Friday, with another set of FEI medals due to be awarded immediately as the competition closes at 18:30.

Coveted positions in the Freestyle finals will be open to the 18 best individually placed riders from Individual competition, with Hartpury pressing play in the music on Saturday morning at 10:30 for the Junior Riders following a final horse inspection. The Young Riders will get their chance to dance on the international stage at 14:00, before the Championships conclude with the final medal ceremony at 17:30, where the freestyle champions will be crowned.
