The scene is set for the 2023 Young Horse Forum, with the timetable now available sharing exciting detail on this year's event hosted at the British Showjumping National Training Centre on 2 March.
Whether your aim is to experience a KBIS Young Dressage Horse Qualifier in 2023 or focus on developing your young horse at home, there's something for all to take away from our first major event of the year headlined by Philipp Hess and Paul Hayler.
New for 2023
We're excited to introduce new elements to the Young Horse Forum as our hosts aim to provide top class insight into producing, training and competing young horses. The first of these will be a display of the commanded route test for five year olds; ridden in pairs at each of the qualifiers, how the commanded route works is a frequently raised question at BDHQ. Our hosts will talk through how to maximise the opportunity and cover the benefits of how and why young horses are presented in pairs at this stage.
Moving into the six year old sessions, we'll shine a light on the pint-sized powerhouses of the future as the qualifier test is demonstrated by a pony for the first time at the Young Horse Forum. The KBIS Young Pony Championships is a great chance to showcase the BD Youth and FEI stars of the future, providing arena time and a format that replicates the Young Horse series.
Our final new addition for 2023 will be the unveiling and display of the new seven year old test, now available to view online. The test includes lateral movements in trot and canter, single flying changes and collection in all three paces, similar to that of BD Advanced Medium level. The test will be demonstrated before we open up discussion around presentation and judging.
