British leading ladies Lottie Fry and Becky Moody took centre stage with breathtaking performances at the final FEI Dressage World Cup™ qualifier of the Western European League in ’s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands (13 – 16 March 2025).
The reigning World Champion Lottie (pictured above) and Glamourdale (Lord Leatherdale x Negro), owned by Van Olst Horses, once again showcased their excellence as they continued a remarkable winning streak. After taking the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Grand Prix with a commanding 75.978%, Lottie and the 14-year-old stallion showcased exceptional form, power and harmony throughout their breathtaking freestyle, which scored 89.705%. Combined with her victories in London and Amsterdam, Lottie has amassed 60 points, securing her spot among the world’s best at next month’s FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final in Basel, Switzerland, despite competing in only three qualifiers.
“I don’t get emotional very often, but today when the crowd started clapping and cheering, it just got me,” said an elated Lottie. "Today was going to be our day. Glamourdale rose to the occasion. He is such a showman. Lucky for me, he is perfect in every way: he has the conformation, the character, the determination, the showmanship. I just have to make sure to sit there and make everything look pretty."
Taking it as a learning moment and putting the disappointment behind them, Becky and Jagerbomb returned to the arena with an unforgettable freestyle. Their Beatles-themed performance, full of energy and expression, certainly made amends as they collected a new personal best of 87.545% and another second place. This result puts Becky in contention for a place at the Final in Basel, with qualification decisions to be confirmed shortly.
"I’m so proud of him!" said Becky, reacting to Jagerbomb’s career-best performance. “He is a truly exceptional horse. His heart is his most talented part; he always gives absolutely everything. I’m so lucky to have him.”
Belgium’s Justin Verboomen and the nine-year-old stallion Zonik Plus (Zonik x Hohenstein) completed the World Cup™ podiums, delivering a polished Grand Prix Freestyle for 84.160% after scoring 74.652% in the Grand Prix.
Elsewhere in the competition, Lottie finished second aboard Van Olst Horses’ 16-year-old stallion Nespresso (Negro x Tenerife VDL) in both Friday’s CDI3* Grand Prix and Saturday’s Freestyle. Meanwhile, in the Small Tour classes Becky took fifth in Thursday’s Prix St Georges and Friday’s Intermediate I Freestyle with her eight-year-old Governor-sired mare Magic Dream JB.
With Basel just a few weeks away, Lottie will be preparing to take on the competitionat what promises to be an unforgettable showdown. Stay tuned for confirmation of all qualified competitors and full details on how to follow the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final.
