The Forces Equine Associated Championships saw several close battles play out at Moreton Morrell EC on Sunday 21 October.

Designed for riders in HM Forces, Government Services, Public Services and their dependents, the Championships continue to grow in success year on year with the support of the dedicated team at Forces Equine.

Charlotte Bagshaw made her journey from Leeds count as she took home two wins with her own Bunny Boy, a 15-year-old Irish bred gelding. Two sublime tests in the Introductory and Preliminary Championships saw the perfectly matched pair earn 73.70% and 71.92% for their efforts. Charlotte, a student at Leeds Beckett University, spoke to British Dressage about her win:

“Me, Bunny and my mum and dad had a wonderful time, we have never attended the Forces Equine Associated Championships before! Debi and all the competitors made us feel incredibly welcome. It is both mine and Bunny Boy's first year doing BD dressage so both me and my fantastic instructor - Shirley Pickard - were thrilled with our percentages which were in the 70's.”

Also leaving the show as a dual winner was Lisa Sterrow, hailing from Carterton in Oxfordshire. Proving tough to beat, Lisa and Erin Angel’s piebald gelding Montreal Skyline won both the Novice and Elementary Championships in style with 73.65% and 69.46%. This is the second Associated Championship experience of the year for Lisa who recently challenged at the Nettex CHAPS Associated Championship with her Forces Equine Champion ride.

Inspector Lesley Wheatley of Northumbria Police (pictured) tasted victory in the Medium 75 Championship with her own Furst Lazlo. Lesley and her seven-year-old son of Furst Nymphenburg have enjoyed a great season of BD competition, including competing at the Rockrose Summer Regional Championships.

Congratulations to all riders who took part in this unique Championships, thanks go to Forces Equine and to Wayne Rodwell and his team at Moreton Morrell College for another successful Championships.
