As the prestigious series reaches its climax in Basel’s St. Jakobshalle (2–6 April 2025), Lottie Fry is set to make her mark among the world’s top combinations, battling for the FEI Dressage World Cup™ champion title.
For the first time in its 37-edition history, the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final heads to Switzerland, where a stellar field of riders has qualified through various leagues. 18 competitors from 13 nations are set to contest the final. Britain’s Lottie Fry and the formidable Glamourdale, whom she owns with Van Olst Horses, have shown exceptional form throughout the season, amassing an impressive total of 60 points across just three qualifiers. The Netherlands-based Brit arrives at the final fresh from an outstanding freestyle score of 89.705% in 's-Hertogenbosch, as well as 89.840% in Amsterdam and a victory in London. This will be Lottie’s third time at the finals and her first with the Lord Leatherdale-sired 14-year-old stallion.
The British rider will be joined by a star-studded lineup, including Isabell Werth (GER), who will contest her 26th final, bidding for the title with world and European team medallist DSP Quantaz after dominating the Western European League 2024–2025 series with 75 points. Defending champion Patrik Kittel (SWE), who rode Touchdown to victory last year also returns - this time riding his and Gestüt Peterhof’s talented mare Forever Young HRH. The global field also features 71-year-old Mary Hanna (AUS), representing the Pacific League, and Brazil’s Renderson Silva de Oliveira, who secured his spot through the non-league route. The USA’s Genay Vaughn, Kevin Kohmann and Adrienne Lyle all qualified from the North American League on 60 points. Meanwhile, Hungary’s Anikó Komjáthy-Losonczy and Poland’s Sandra Sysojeva earned their places through the Central European League, both finishing on 80 points.
Since none of the competing combinations have previously claimed the title the competition in Basel not only promises thrilling, top-class dressage but also guarantees that a new FEI Dressage World Cup™ champion will be crowned.
The Grand Prix on Friday will determine the starting order for Saturday’s Freestyle, where the World Cup title will ultimately be decided.
