With the horses arrived and settled in Ermelo, it’s time to look ahead to this year’s much-anticipated Longines FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses, in the Netherlands (03 – 06 August 2023), and wish our riders the very best of luck this week.

Ermelo welcomes the world’s best young dressage horses, including an exciting British contingent, who will show off their talents over the next four days. Starting from tomorrow, four days of competition will feature the top five-, six-, and seven-year-old horses from across the world as they battle it out for the 2023 titles at this flagship young horse event renowned for revealing the stars of the future. You only have to look at double World Champion Glamourdale, who won the seven-year-old title in 2018 under Lottie Fry, to see that it truly is a stepping stone towards the top international levels.

Representing Great Britain this year are Amy Woodhead with Emma Blundell’s five-year-old MSJ Viva Dannebrog, Beth Bainbridge with Elite Dressage’s six-year-old My Pride, and in the seven-year-olds will be Laura Tomlinson with her own and Mrs Ursula Bechtolsheimer’s Full Moon II and Sarah Rogers with Mrs Ursula Bechtolsheimer’s Forest Hill.

Also, as part of the Dutch quota of entries will be Lottie Fry with Van Olst Horses’ Nalegro and Phoebe Peters with Van Olst Horses’ Everest – both five-year-olds, and as part of the Spanish quota will be Joseph Hunt with his own and Yeguada Centurion’s five-year-old Druida de Centurion.
