Farriery introduced to BD Learning Hub

With an array of fascinating content already available to members, we’re excited to release a new module on the BD Learning Hub covering Farriery and Hoof Care.
We’re all familiar with the saying ‘no hoof no horse’, farriery is a fundamental aspect of horse care and performance, and we’re excited to release a brand new BD Learning Hub module delving into this fascinating topic.
Split into two modules, this module provides an in-depth look at farriery and shoeing, designed to give you all the educational resources and information needed to widen your knowledge. The first module, ‘Introduction to Farriery and Hoof Care’, includes anatomy of the hoof, an introduction to shoeing and hoof care, shoeing and common hoof ailments. Module two covers a more in-depth look at hoof care including balance, symmetry, hoof mapping, ailments and farriery issues and evaluating lameness and farriery in a veterinary setting.
The BD Learning Hub provides members with expertly written content from the industry professionals, best placed to offer first-hand knowledge. This course has been written by Master Farrier Tom Smith FWCF GradDIP ELR. Tom is qualified to the highest standard, holding the FWCF; described as the pinnacle of Farriery examinations and passed with distinction at the Royal Veterinary College in the Equine Locomotor Research.
Whether your horse or pony is a barefoot or in bar shoes, this is a great opportunity for members of all ages and levels to learn more on a vitally important topic.
How to access
The Learning Hub is free to access and provides members with a stream of engaging, educational content for members at all stages.
To access the BD Learning Hub, members simply need to visit the landing page, available via the BD website and follow the instructions to create an account. Once the account is confirmed as ‘active’, you can begin working through the courses available – all included as part of your benefits of being a British Dressage member, benefits include a 20% discount on training modules on the Learning Hub.
