British Dressage (BD) is excited to announce the launch of the BD Youth Panel, a new initiative designed to give a voice to young people within the sport.
Aimed at current BD Youth members aged 16-25, or BD members aged 25-27 with recent BD Youth experience, we are looking for a panel of young people who want to actively become involved in the development and improvement of our youth activity.
As part of our commitment to developing a BD Youth provision that reflects the interests of our members who are under 25, Youth Panel members will be the voice of BD Youth and have the opportunity to identify current areas for improvement, and provide feedback on new and existing activity. There will also be the chance to access various development activities, from volunteering at BD events and completing media training, to collaborating with young people in other sports and attending training and networking sessions relevant to the equestrian industry.
Through quarterly online meetings, our BD Youth Panel will support and make recommendations to the BD Youth Technical Committee and Regional Committees to advise, drive, and advocate the work of BD Youth.
Hannah James, Development Pathways Supervisor, said “we are really excited to launch the new Youth Panel initiative and are looking for applicants who are committed to advocating for the perspective of young members and youth riders in their region, obtaining and sharing feedback, and working as a collective to support British Dressage’s vision and mission.”
We are in search of a diverse group of youth members to give insight into the varied backgrounds and experiences of all BD Youth participants. Applications from a range of candidates aged 16-25 are welcome, as well as applicants aged 25-27 that have ‘graduated’ BD Youth and are still actively competing.
This is a voluntary role, and Youth Panel members aged 16-25 can complete a maximum of two terms of two years, members aged 25-7 will be limited to one term of two years.
Applications are open now until 15 September 2024.
