BD Vacancy: Pony Selector

British Dressage is the National Governing Body of the sport of dressage in the UK and is responsible for the development of riders to represent Great Britain at all levels in FEI competitions, including our Under 21 International Teams.

This is an exciting time to join British Dressage and the sport is enjoying a public profile like never before, with over 17,000 members taking part in 2,500 days of affiliated dressage competition every year.

The Pony Selector is a voluntary role, which requires excellent current knowledge and experience of international dressage and rules, a good understanding of elite sport and high performance systems, including the World Class Programmes, as well as an appreciation of the role / responsibilities of key organisations such as UK Sport, FEI, BEF and BD.

This role requires proven technical expertise, along with the willingness to learn, who can attend Viewing Days, Prime or Progress Squad sessions (when required), nominated Premier League and National competitions, as well as International competitions at home and abroad. In addition, you would be required to attend the pre-European Championships support team meetings, the Pony European Championships and two U21 International Team meetings per annum.

You will set and maintain the standard of Team GBR and BD values of fairness, integrity, good sportsmanship and mutual respect under the pressure of competition, championing the team first ethos in the pursuit of excellence. The ability to conduct your duties impartially and objectively, in accordance with the agreed policies and procedures, acting with sensitivity, tact and diplomacy at all times, is an essential part of the role.

You will be a confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to respond promptly to communications from colleagues and other stakeholders. Some weekend / evening work and international travel is integral to the role and you will be familiar with using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook as relevant.
