British Dressage has today received notification from Rockrose Equestrian Sports Centre that they have a confirmed case of strangles on their livery yard and have suspended all equine movement and competition with immediate effect. This includes their forthcoming Petplan Equine Area Festival due to run 11 – 13 May.

We’re working with James Cunningham at Rockrose, BD RDO Scotland Emma Stewart and the fixtures team to secure a date later in the year for the Petplan Equine Area Festival to run so that riders in the region won’t miss the opportunity of competing in this annual highlight.

Head of Sport Operations Di Harvey commented; “The Rockrose team have acted quickly and professionally in activating their crisis plans in the circumstances and we hope they can bring the outbreak to an end quickly. We’re looking at a few available dates to reschedule the Area Festival and will communicate the change via our website and social media as soon as a decision is made. For those in the area of Rockrose, the venue is urging you to follow their social media feeds where they are being open with the facts and giving situation updates to help with any concerns.”
