Palm Beach Dressage Derby CDI-W

Hampshire-based Ellie McCarthy continues to gain momentum on her winter visit to Wellington, Florida, where she is contesting numerous CDI fixtures with her own, Spencer and Bridget McCarthy's Brave Heart.

At the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival 8 fixture (28 February - 4 March 2024), Ellie earned 64.956% for her Grand Prix test in front of Clive Halsall (GBR), Katrina Wüst (GER), Raphael Saleh (FRA), Magnus Ringmark (SWE) and Carlos Lopes (POR); but it was under the torrential rain and evening performance lights that Ellie and 'Massimo' really shone, taking third place on the Freestyle to Music podium with a superb 71.855%. Their performance unveiled a new Kung Fu Panda themed freestyle, produced by Tony Hobden at Equidance. Ellie took to social media to comment on her debut World Cup qualifier experience: "Very proud of my little horse. Our first Friday night under the lights in Wellington didin't disappoint. We danced to our new freestyle to come third with 71.8% in my first ever World Cup class. The judges loved our music and it's easily my favourite freestyle I've ever ridden to, so a huge thanks to Tony and Kelly. It wasn't a test without mistakes and as you can see we got rained on quite heavily for our whole warm up and majority of our test, but Massimo was 100% with me."

Susan Pape also contested the CDI3* classes throughout the week, achieving further top ten placings with her own and Harmony Amateur Sport Foundation's Harmony's Ecletisch (Zenon x Olivia) to add to her solid Adequan® Global Dressage Festival results.
