BD International: Jardy and Kronenberg roundup

With two overseas international competitions taking place concurrently last month (16 -18 June 2023), we recap on the action and results at Jardy CDI, on the outskirts of Paris, and Kronenberg CPEDI in the Netherlands.
Jardy CDI3* and CDI1*
Lottie Fry presented Van Olst Horses’ Nespresso at his first international competition. The 14-year-old Negro x Tenerife VDL stallion came away with fourth place in the CDI3* Grand Prix and second place in his first freestyle ever, with a fantastic score of 77.085%. Dylan Deutrom with Sarah Church and William Deans’ 13-year-old San Marco (Status Quo x Gribaldi) presented a solid Grand Prix for eighth place on 67.457%, and eighth place in the Special.
List 1 Judge, Sara-Jane Lanning and the young British mare, Hawtins Lirica (Lemony’s Nicket x Dimaggio), owned by Nicola Seale, enjoyed a successful week. Starting with sixth place in the close-fought CDI1* Prix St Georges, the British combination, pictured, achieved a top-ten place in the Inter I before rounding off their show on the podium as runners-up in the Inter I Freestyle.

Kronenberg CPEDI3*
A strong British contingent travelled to the Peelbergen Equestrian Centre in the Netherlands, which welcomed many of the sports’ top names for Kronenberg CPEDI3*.
Sophie Wells OBE, riding Rowland Kinch’s Don Cara M (by Don Jovi), was on top form to finish on the podium all three days, including a win in the Grand Prix A. Sophie also travelled LJT Egebjerggards Samoa, giving the young mare valuable experience to score just shy of 70% in both the Grand Prix A and B. Sophie’s fellow Grade V rider, Charlotte Cundall posted strong scores to finish top-ten all three days with The Veyron Partnership’s Vivaldi-sired gelding, FJ Veyron.
In the Grade IV, Nicola Naylor was well-placed all three days with her talented rides, Humberto L (Cachet x Haarlem) and Del Piero (Flemmingh x Houston), finishing just outside the podium in the Grand Prix A and fifth in the Freestyle with Humberto L. Izzy Palmer and Catherine Austin’s Je Suis Adiva (Negro x Fabriano) also impressed in the Grade IV, giving the mare valuable mileage on her first trip to the Continent.
Grade III rider Georgia Wilson shone bright to finish on the podium in all her classes with Sakura (Supertramp x Rockstar), while Grade I competitor Gabriella Blake and Connemara gelding, Strong Beau built on strong results in the Grand Prix A and B to finish third in the Freestyle on 73.478%.
