British Dressage is delighted to announce Sharon Lindop has been ratified as Chairman for the Scotland region. Sharon has been acting in an interim capacity during Deborah Adamson’s illness and sad passing. Following a successful application and interview process, Sharon has now been formally ratified to the position.
Originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant, Aberdeenshire based Sharon (pictured) has spent most of her career in the energy sector, working with internationally renowned brands like BP and Shell on finance matters, business planning and leadership development. In July 2011, she set up her own business, Lin’terim, which provided interim management services to help inexperienced and under resourced companies.
Sharon has been an active dressage competitor since 2005 and has qualified for most major Championships across the levels. She proudly represented the region last year at the Senior Home International, finishing ninth with the Scottish Prancers team and has a busy season ahead riding at Small Tour level.
In just a few months supporting Emma Stewart, Regional Development Officer for Scotland and the volunteer committee, Sharon has made a positive impact. Communication, fundraising, governance and community have been high on the agenda and members are seeing benefits including the inaugural BD Scotland Ball which was a great success.
Sharon commented; "I’m really pleased to be able to put my general business experience to use in helping to run dressage, a sport that I am very passionate about, in Scotland. The region has an outstanding committee of high energy individuals who have a lot of ideas and who collectively deliver a great variety of learning opportunities, events and information to the membership. It’s a pleasure to work with them and I’m sure that we will have a lot of fun as we continue to help develop the sport, horses and riders in our region."
At headquarters, the British Dressage Senior Management Team is now complete with the recent appointment of Marketing Manager Becca Tuttle.
Becca joins us from Serco Leisure where she held a national marketing role covering key contracts covering National Sports Centres including the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepoint, Bisham Abbey, Lilleshall and Stoke Mandeville. Key areas of responsibility included creation and delivery of marketing plans, new product launches, advertising campaigns, digital marketing, branding, events and ticket sales strategy.
“I’m incredibly excited to have taken on the new role of Marketing Manager and to start working with the team to build on and develop the existing marketing activity and brand presence of British Dressage,” said Becca.
“I’m looking forward to bringing with me the experience I have of working in other sport and membership based organisations to ultimately encourage more people to join BD and engage with the great services, competitions and events that are on offer,” she continued.
