Eligibility reminder
In May, it was announced that the selection policy for the FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses had been revised. This was following the release of updated guidelines from the FEI and WBFSH for the Championships regarding home-bred and foreign-bred horses, which come into effect from this year.

Therefore, from the 2022 event forwards, home-bred horses must be registered at birth with a studbook belonging to the country of the nominating Federation, with a UELN that corresponds to the studbook of origin. For the purposes of these championships, horses born in the country of the National Federation, but registered at birth with a studbook belonging to any other country outside of Great Britain, are considered to be foreign-bred.

Great Britain is eligible to select and send up to two home-bred horses per age group, as per the WBFSH member quota. If no, or fewer than two home-bred horses have met the minimum eligibility requirements at the final selection trials, the British Dressage selectors may nominate foreign-bred horses in line with the conditions stipulated under the FEI Dressage World Breeding Championship guidelines.

Read the news item dated 26 May 2022 for full clarification and eligibility details.

British Dressage International Director, Judy Harvey commented; “We are proud to be sending these talented and well-trained horses to represent Great Britain at the World Breeding Championships. We wish them the best of success.”

We’ll publish further information on the show nearer the time – good luck to all competitors and their connections.
