The Pony, Junior and Young Rider riders representing Great Britain in Le Mans, France, have enjoyed a tremendous two days of competition in the CDIO Nations Cup, with all three teams securing a place on the podium.

The Young Riders team was reduced to just three, so all scores counted, with Anna Dalrymple, Jessica McConkey and Sophie Taylor performing brilliantly in individual first, second and fourth place respectively to win the Nations Cup trophy for Great Britain, over five points clear of Germany in second place.  This followed the earlier success of our Pony team, who were runners up in the silver medal position, and our Junior team who finished third, also with a team of just three.

Judy Harvey, International Director for British Dressage, was delighted with the results, commenting, “We now have a new regime in place after putting a lot of thought and effort into the development of our Under 21 teams. Our Performance Manager, Caroline Bell, has really risen to the challenge and we are starting to see the benefits of a co-ordinated approach, which gives the riders the confidence to go forward and produce great results.  Well done to them all!”

Jason Brautigam, BD Chief Executive added: “This was a fantastic result for our Under 21 international team, who have been all been working hard in preparation for the European Championships this summer, including the Junior and Young Riders on home soil at Hartpury in July.  Proving Great Britain can be in medal contention in all age groups will give everyone a huge boost for the rest of the season, so congratulations to all involved on this well-deserved success.

“Three members of the team have been part of our BD Youth Academy programmes too, with India Durman-Mills involved at National Academy level, while Lauren Geraghty and Demi Howard-Cartwright are both on the current cohort for our Foundation Academies, so it’s wonderful to see this investment in our young talent start to come to fruition.”

All riders progress to the Individual test competition tomorrow with the goal of qualification to Sunday's Freestyle to Music finals.
