Ballerina’s on pointe

Under 25s team medallist Claire Gallimore made a winning return to the arena in Le Mans, France, last week scoring two wins with her championship partner Annette Ballerina (7 – 10 February 2019).

With Jane Gallimore’s Annette Ballerina (Scandic x Jazz), 24 year old Claire earned 67.02% to win the U25 Inter II on Saturday, before going on to top the U25 Grand Prix on the final day of the show with 68.84%. Speaking on her Facebook page Claire said, “First international of 2019 done… two first places! Very pleased with Miss Bella today she gave me such a great feeling in the arena! I really love this mare so much and so proud of our journey together so far and excited for what is still to come!”

Previously based with Tristan Tucker in Holland, Claire has recently enjoyed a move back to East Sussex with her team of horses including Bella and rising star Joe Cocker B.

Former British Young Rider team member Emily Harris also enjoyed a successful return to the international arena with the British-bred mare Freya FST, owned by breeder Fay Thomas. The duo achieved three top eight placings in the competitive small tour classes throughout the week.

In the Pony ranks, 2018 championship team riders Annabella Pidgley and Isobel Lickley were both notching up valuable arena time with their second rides. On board Robert and Nicola Lickley’s Mister Snowman, Isobel achieved two top placings of fourth in the Pony Team and Freestyle tests scoring over 71% respectively; whilst team mate Annabella was hot on her heels with Sarah Pidgley’s Cognac IX achieving two plus 70% scores for sixth in the same tests.
