Anna Jesty was on top form in the U25 classes at Waregem CDI3* in Belgium last month (07-10 September 2023) piloting Commodore Platinum to the first international win of his career.

An international PB of 68.177% in the Inter II for third place, behind Germany’s Lana Raumanns and Feodor Nymphenburg OLD (69.471%) and the Swedish combination of Blanca Bosson and Cardon M (68.441%), laid a solid foundation for the rest of the show for the 24-year-old Brit from Wimborne in Dorset.

Anna, who has owned the now nine-year-old Commodore Platinum (Woodlander Clapton x Voltaire) since he was just six months old, took to social media to say; “So proud of 'Olly' today – third in on 68.177% in the Inter II here at Waregem. A few little mistakes crept in where he thought he should be doing the moves from the senior Grand Prix instead, but overall the test was much improved and we had some really promising marks and comments.

“This is an international PB for us too and with lots more to come once we iron out the little mistakes, it’s very exciting. Thank you (as always) to Anna Ross for helping me warm up online – teamwork makes the dream work even from a different country!”

The following day, a Grand Prix 16-25 score just shy of 68% secured a British win ahead of Raumanns (Feodor Nymphenburg OLD) and Germany’s Jeannine Merit Pelzer with DSP Sammy Davis Jr, a former ride of Dorothee Schneider, in third. “Super happy,” said Anna. “A small miscommunication in our 2s (two-time changes) meant we finished on 67.923% but I can’t help being super proud of him. Only nine years old and his first international win for me.”

Anna, who stepped the British-bred gelding up to U25 level earlier this year with appearances at Compiègne, Hickstead and Wellington CDIs, concluded her trip to Belgium scoring 70.970% for third in the Freestyle behind Pelzer and Raumanns. “It’s been a wonderful show here in Waregem, despite the heat, and it’s made me ever more excited for Olly’s future and to see how we can improve from here.

“Congratulations to Lana Raumanns and Jeannine Merit Pelzer who both had a super successful show too, all of us taking a win each. Now time to get home and for Olly to have a week of fun and hacking.”
