Director Appointments

This year nominations were invited for one member elected position, Sport Operations Director, as well as for two Board-appointed positions for Finance Director and Business Development Director. In all three instances, the current post-holders were eligible for a second term.

After a formal review of applications by the Nominations Committee, Simon Bates and Derek Pullem were put forward as candidates to the membership vote for the Sport Operations Director role, with an electronic ballot carried out independently by Mi-Voice.

Derek Pullem received 922 votes, with Simon Bates receiving 564, with Derek duly elected as Sport Operations Director with immediate effect of the AGM announcement.

Newly elected Sport Operations Director Derek Pullem commented; "I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to vote in the election and I’m grateful for the support I received.  I have been fortunate that Lou Jones and Simon Bates have both been very helpful in bringing me up to speed with what is going on, so that I can contribute from day one.

I’m looking forward to working closely with the Sport Operations team at BDHQ and the Sport Operations committee members to improve everyone’s experience of competitive dressage at all levels.  In particular, I’d like to accelerate the work of the Silver Section Review team and bring the review recommendation to the wider BD community next year.

I will strive to meet everyone’s expectations of me in this role and hope you will work with me to make British Dressage the best it can be.”

For the positions of Finance Director and Business Development Director, the current post-holders, Caroline Godfrey and Suzanne Homewood, were unopposed and unanimously recommended for reappointment by the Nominations Committee which was subsequently ratified by the BD Board.

Upon Lotte Olsen’s completion of two terms in the British Dressage Nominated Director position on the British Equestrian Federation Board, we’re pleased to confirm that Claire Moir has kindly agreed to step down from the BD Board a year early to take up this vitally important position. Hannah Moody has been confirmed by the BD Board as Interim BD Youth Director for a period of twelve months and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role. The position of BD Youth Director will be formally advertised in the first quarter of 2024, with nominations invited from the membership, followed by an online ballot next summer.
