Following the 2022 Annual General Meeting, held earlier this month, British Dressage is delighted to confirm the appointments to the Board in the roles of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Judges Director, and International Director.
Director Appointments
Members were invited to vote via electronic ballot this summer for these key Board appointments and the official results were announced at the AGM at Arena UK on Thursday 6 October.
We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Jill Day as Chairman, for an initial four-year term, while Peter Storr and Judy Harvey were re-elected for a second term in their roles as Judges Director and International Director respectively. In accordance with the updated Articles of Association, which were approved by members at the AGM, the appointment of BD Finance Director Caroline Godfrey as Deputy Chair was also formally ratified at the recent BD Board Meeting held last week.
The British Dressage Board and management team would like to express their grateful thanks and appreciation to Caroline for her help and support as Interim Chair over the past ten months.
During her riding career, Jill campaigned successfully at international Grand Prix level with her ‘horse of a lifetime’ Nominee Redwood and identifies strongly with the sacrifice and dedication needed to make it at the very highest levels of the sport, having worked her way from grassroots to elite. Alongside her time in the saddle, Jill has devoted much of her career to coaching and supporting British Dressage in a wide range of roles.
From developing the Eastern Region as both Regional Training Representative and Chairman, to two terms as Training Director from 2001 to 2008, and several selection roles for both our Under 21 and Senior teams, Jill has made a significant contribution to BD as a volunteer. In addition, her input in the development of British Dressage coaching qualifications and the newly launched judges’ education system has been vitally important in helping to shape these key areas.
Jill Day commented, “Thank you to everyone that voted for me, I am humbled by your trust and support. I am looking forward to working with the rest of the BD Board and the team at head office and across our regions. I have listened to the feedback you have sent me with great interest and will be discussing this with my fellow Directors over the next few months. We are always here for our members, so if you see me out and about at shows and training events, please do come and have a chat.”
Jason Brautigam commented, “We are really looking forward to working with Jill as we welcome her to the Board as Chairman. She brings a wealth of knowledge and equestrian experience from a distinguished 50-year career in the sport, which will be invaluable as we continue our efforts to provide the best possible experience for all BD members.
“I’d like to thank Caroline Godfrey for stepping into the Interim Chair position after the sad passing of Linda Whetstone last December. We have really valued her leadership and guidance, and I’m sure she will continue to be a great support to Jill and the Board in her new position as Deputy Chair.”
