In Wales we have a Regional Committee of volunteers who help to run the region - meet the team that keep Wales on the map!

Mike is a retired Army Officer and Police Officer, who has spent the past 35 years as a volunteer within the Army Cadet Force; a youth organisation. He learnt to ride at Sandhurst, and was a member of the Great Britain Team that went to the Modern Pentathlon World Championships in 1973. Mike's been a competing member of BD for 10+ years, so brings a lot of experience to the role. He is however keen to learn more and always welcomes advice from our members!

Helen is another new committee member working alongside Bethan whilst managing Senior activities in North Wales. Having represented Wales at team events for a number of years, Helen is able to offer her knowledge to the whole team selection process. 

Bethan Powell , Senior Representative

Bethan is one of our newest committee members. Based in Abergavenny, she helps manage Senior activities in South and West Wales. Having ridden on teams at the Senior Inter Regionals for the first time in 2019, Bethan is keen to share her experiences and encourage others to ride for Wales. As a regular participant of BD Wales activities, Bethan is also a List 6 BD Judge.

Briony is a BHS coach and lecturer in Equine Studies at Coleg Sir Gar and has been training and competing at Dressage for over 15 years. This has included enjoying time as a BD Youth team member herself for several years whilst being the BD Youth Wales Ambassador. Briony now takes part in Senior Regional teams for BD Wales. These experiences along with having been a partner of 

Welsh BD venue Little Mill Equestrian over the last 5 years has given Briony the perfect background to enable her to develop and support our Youth in Wales.

As our former Youth Ambassador, Anna Roberts is no stranger to Youth activities in Wales. She has represented Wales region on four occasions at team events and even attended the Foundation Academy in 2021. Her passion and enthusiasm for dressage means she is fully informed and knowledgeable of competition criteria and eligibility for team events. Anna is friendly, approachable and confident in her ability to communicate, guide and support children and parents through BD pathways.

Nina Boex, Coaches Representative

Nina is an established BD coach and has long supported team Wales in various roles. She is an experienced Youth Coach and Assessor, and is involved in delivery at the BD Foundation Academies. Nina is currently completing her UKCC Level 4.

Nina believes we never stop learning, and is a big advocate of Continuous Professional Development, both formal and informal. Nina is keen to help promote a positive and supportive coaching community in Wales.

Nina would love to hear from current and aspiring BD coaches and help in any way she can.

Dianne Breeze, Judges Representative

Dianne is a BD List 3 Judge and UKCC Level 3 Coach. She is also an international dressage rider and has been placed at Regional and National Championships over many years at levels Novice - PSG. Having trained and competed many horses to Grand Prix, Dianne has herself trained with Stephen Clarke, Kalman DeJunerak, Ferdi Eilberg and over the last 30 years with Carl Hester. Dianne ensures that we have regular training, exams and activities for our judges in Wales.

Emma is an active member at BD and Quest Club competitions and is already the ‘go to person’ for many friends who are unsure of rules! With a true passion for Quest, Emma hopes to make Quest activities bigger and better in Wales. She feels that Quest is an amazing gateway into BD for the development of both horse and rider.

Donna Rooney, Para Representative

Donna is a grade 5 para dressage rider and she is also Chair of United Counties RDA Group in Carmarthen. She is passionate about riding and feels she is really in touch with the para community. Donna's aim is to promote para dressage, make it more accessible and have a closer playing field with senior and youth activities to help our sport become more inclusive and less daunting.

Maisie brings a wealth of experience and passion to our committee, having been deeply involved with British Dressage for many years including competing at senior team events.

Maisie is not only a dedicated rider but also a proud owner of six horses, giving her a profound understanding of the equestrian world. Her professional background includes three years in the Equestrian Marketing industry, where she has honed her skills in dealing with sponsored riders, creating promotional material, organising prizes, and attending numerous events.

In her new role, Maisie is excited to engage with our members to gather valuable feedback and to forge new partnerships within the region. Her extensive experience and enthusiasm make her a perfect fit for driving our marketing initiatives forward. We look forward to the fresh perspectives and innovative ideas Maisie will bring to our team.
