Coaching with confidence: Para Dressage and disability
This training day is aimed at any coaches registered with British Dressage or any other governing bodies who have an interest in how to coach inclusively.
A one day training course (3 hours 45 minutes including a lunch break) that focuses on the specialist nature of working with physically impaired people and the different approaches that may be required to aid their progression and development.
This training day is focused on informing you of the differences you may find when coaching disabled riders, not giving you the direct tools to do so.
The programme will cover areas such as:
- Explore best practice for inclusive coaching to improve confidence.
- Create a safe and positive learning environment through exploring a range of coaching styles.
- Explore opportunities to effectively engage individuals through the use of appropriate language and terminology.
- Learn about practical tools to support inclusive delivery.
- Learn about the ten Talk to Me Principles developed by Activity Alliance and how these can be used to drive participation and inclusion of disabled people in equestrian.
- Explore creative ideas to support disabled people to access riding opportunities.
- Learn about local groups, activities and further training opportunities.
- Identify best practice when coaching riders with a disability.
Will this training day count towards my CPD credits?
This training day is an accredited BD CPD and has a credit value of 4 credits.
The session outcomes that are covered are:
- Technical riding development.
- Working with others.
- Self development skills.
