Para dressage

British Dressage has one of the most developed pathways for equestrian disability sport in the world, offering endless competition opportunities from grassroots to Olympic level. Para Dressage is sponsored by Niagara Equissage Pulse.

Competition pathway

Para dressage classes mirror the non disabled structure and is split into three sections – bronze, silver and gold. Earn points from affiliated para classes all year round to qualify for numerous championships! There are six Championships to aim for each year, find out how you can qualify below.

Equissage Pulse Para Winter Championships

Qualification period 1 July - 31 December 
Levels Bronze, Silver, and Gold
Championships Myerscough College, 22 - 25 Feb 2024
  • Gold riders need to gain 12 points, 6 of which may come from CPEDI3*'s and/or a Para PYO and/or a FEI PYO (Para Grand Prix Test B only).
  • Silver riders need to gain 10 points, 5 of which may come from CPEDI2*'s and/or a Para and/or FEI PYO (Para Intermediate Test A only).
  • Bronze riders need to gain 5 points from the Intro level tests and can include Para PYO and FEI PYO classes.

Equissage Pulse Para Gold Semi-Final 

Qualification period (for semi final class) 1 January - 30 June
Levels Gold
Championships Hartpury, 21 - 22 August 2024

Gold semi-final 

  • Open to any rider with an FEI Classification.
  • Riders must gain 12 points, 6 of those may come from CPEDI3*'s and/or a Para PYO and/or FEI PYO (Para Grand Prix Test B only) to qualify for the semi final class.

Equissage Pulse Para Bronze and Silver Summer Championships

Qualification period 1 January - 30 June
Levels Bronze and Silver
Championships Hartpury, 21 - 22 August 2024
  • Silver riders need to gain 10 points, 5 of which may come from one CPEDI2*/ CPEDI1* (single best score to count) and/ or a Para/FEI PYO (Para Intermediate Test A only).
  • Bronze riders need to gain 5 points from the Intro level tests and can include Para PYO classes.

Gold Final 

  • The top four riders in each grade scoring 64% or above at the semi-final will qualify for the Equissage Pulse Para Gold Championships. Wildcards will be given based on them receiving the 64% minimum score.

Membership

The Bronze section is for those who are new to para dressage and to begin with, you and your horse can join as Club members - ideal for your first step into para equestrian competitions. A Full (competing) membership for both horse and rider will be necessary for taking part in silver and gold competitions and all para championships. Bronze combinations would also need to upgrade to Full (competing) members to compete in a Bronze Championship.
